So many talented writers submitted brilliant original stories for Books Nook, and I'm seriously floored by the amount of passion and creativity displayed by all participants. When the next update to 1.0 goes live, these 6 stories will be featured in the Books Nook meadow for all players to enjoy, and the authors will recive a special Books Nook badge at the time of this thread being posted.

If you didn't get to submit your entry in time, don't worry! You can still send in a story following the contest guidelines, and it might be added in future updates.

Everyone's stories were fantastic, but 3 of them stood out as being exceptionally well-done in both content and execution. Let's honor this hard work by giving them support and praise!
Here are the honorable mentions:

Wings of a Bat
By Silver Winterjewel

A fun short story about an animal-talent sparrowman who gets temporarily turned into a bat. As spooky as you may think it [and just in time for October, too], the narrator urges you not to fear! The descriptions of Mermish were a fun callback, and I love that the sparrowman got to keep his bat wings in the end!

Tall Tales Tour Guide
By Stormy Lightningberry

A charming microfiction about the origins of Pixie Hollow. Whimsical fantasy meets real-world history to remind us where we fairies come from. The idea of Pixie Hollow itself coming from a laugh is brilliant, and the world-traveling quality of the island is not only reminiscent of Pixie Hollow’s global reach, but a clever tie-in to the second star motif.

Quest for the Greenwing: Part 1
By Lyric Daypool

A lighthearted and fun look into the life of a new arrival on a quest to find his name. “Greenwing” is a clever nickname for a new arrival! The descriptions of the sand in particular were dreamy and tranquil, and the poetry was a fun surprise. We’re looking forward to seeing what Greenie does next, thank you for a wonderful entry!

3rd place:

Untitled
By Snowflake Neverlily

A meaningful short story about a water fairy who is determined to win. There is a powerful message being told: winning isn’t everything, and sometimes winning isn’t even the point! It was fun seeing what Rani would be like in an organized game setting, and the details of the Great Games were so fun!

2nd place:

What I Needed to Hear
By Pine Stareye

A touching story of a frost-talent fairy who grapples with loneliness. The story holds up a mirror to any fairy who has struggled with making or keeping friends, and the familiar safety of “the cold”. The metaphors were powerful, the worldbuilding was thought-out, and the crystal cave was a vividly gorgeous scene!

...Ahem.

Drumroll, PLEASE.....

1st Place:

The Lumenkern
By Celeste Frostshine

A unique and whimsical tale of a greedy fairy who learns what really “counts”. The electric red slippers got a giggle out of me, and the last line belongs in a museum. For such a short story, you’ve conveyed a very rich message alongside powerful imagery of disaster and restoration. Great job, we hope to see many more works from you!

One more huge THANK YOU to all who utilized their talents for the enrichment of FairyABC. You ALL deserve a round of applause!
