And now, a poem of Pi Day.

Although it is now March
And soon the colour green will overarch,
Is there any reason why
This day granted to Pi
Seems far shorter than a triumphal arch?

When the number of the date in March is fourteen,
We all have a little time left to find green
Be it clothing or tchotchkes
Or delicacies
From bright sweet custards to delicious sweet beans.

Why the 14th of March, you ask?
Easily I can explain this task:
Because month-wise we've only twelve
And the bane of the thirteen we've yet to completely shelve
Still, a certain clientele in this day will bask.

There are at least a few songs enduring
Though maybe not so assuring
As the fact that Pi
Is a number forever, though I can't say why,
And yet neither pattern nor visible end it's been ensuring.

Have you any idea how long it would take
To write out Pi, only to make a mistake
Along the number line,
Then for patience to decline
Until error corrected, then time for a break?

I won't say how far this unending number I can recite
Because that alone would take some might
Although to help matters,
Certain baking batters
Can be used to shape numbers until they're just right.

3.14159265358979324
Is the roundup of Pi by the seventeenth, but care for more?
Greatly appreciated
Even if octuplicated
Would give a baker's dozen round up to 25.1327412287184.

22 o'er seven and Pi to the second are both 3.14
But as of Digit Three are similar no more
To bring fractions closer
Than bread to a toaster,
219911 o'er seventy thousand is unto Pi nearer, for sure!

But for those more in the mood for Pie with a silent E
Yet still in complex math would find glee,
Why not give a try
To a dessert shaped like Pi?
To me, that sounds quite the tackling recipe!

This year Pi Day turns twenty
And the ways to celebrate are plenty
From fun little bangles
That jingle and jangle
To accoutrements worth many a penny.

Why should one assume this day to be a nightmare
When we've plenty a mathematician here and there?
To finish this prose
With more kindness than a rose,
I say Happy Pi Day and please take care.

I hope you enjoyed this poem and Happy Reading.
