It's time for the third installment!

~As Lavender drew the design she wanted for her uniform and Xenops made the uniform, Lavender tried it on… a perfect fit! As much as Lavender preferred green to pink, Gardeners wore pink in the Pixie Hollow Games. Still, no way she was giving up her green glasses for pink ones.

~Just then Pearl flew in and said, "Wow, that's… quite the… uniform."

~"Thaaaaaaaaaaannnnksssssss," drawled Lavender.

~"You do realise that uniform will make you look even taller than you already are?" asked a different Gardener, pointing to Lavender. "Also, it doesn't even look remotely official."

~Lavender didn't care because she immediately went to train in her new uniform.

~Lavender saw 24 frogs being set up for the leapfrog race and flew to sit on one of the frogs, but the frog was much too small for her to ride, and every frog was really big this year!

~"We'll need at least twelve more frogs," said Daylily to Holly.

~"How come?" asked Holly.

~"So far, eighteen talents are competing, ours included."

~"Fffrooooooooooggyyyyyyyy," drawled Lavender, petting the head of the frog that was struggling under her girth.

~"Uh, Lavender?" asked Elva, who was helping her sister Jessie with the leapfrog setup. "Maybe save leapfrog for the smaller fairies."

~"Wwwwhyyyyyyy?"

~"Because you weigh too much for him," answered Jessie.

~But Lavender was certain the frog was strong enough for her, so when the harnesses for all 36 frogs (twelve more were brought in) were finished, each talent pair got on their assigned frogs. Pearl headed to the frog pair where Lavender sat.

~"This is for the Wintry Water Talents," Snowbelle told Lavender. "The Garden Talent frogs are next to us."

~Lavender got off the frog she was on and Pearl sat on that same frog, them Lavender sat on an equally large frog while Nilla, another Gardener, sat on the other frog. Xenops had come too.

~"On your marks!" began Holly.

~Every one was at the ready.

~"Get set!"

~Lavender was super excited.

~"Hop!"

~34 of the frogs were moving along nicely, but guess which two frogs couldn't budge in leapfrog style.

~"Race abort! Race abort!" cried Jessie.

~Nilla's frog was doing all the hopping, but Lavender's couldn't even hop a millimetre off the ground! Soon the Gardeners' frog harness broke apart and Nilla's frog hopped around the track seven times with her on his back.

~"Edwin, come back!" Daylily called to Nilla's frog. "The race has been aborted!"

~"Take five everyone while we reorganise the frogs," said Jessie.

~Except Nilla, everyone dismounted their frogs and the Animal-Talented fairies all gathered the frogs back in order, the Gardeners' frog harness was fixed and the race was about to start again when…

~"Uh, Lavender, maybe better let Xenops and Nilla do leapfrog for the Garden team," said Holly. "The frogs can't hop with you riding them."

~Lavender was sad, but she obliged and left to try other events.

~She tried Dragonfly Waterski Practise at Soapstone Stream, but the dragonflies couldn't pull her along and she fell into the stream wings first. Fortunately Heidi, a Water Scout, was able to rescue Lavender easily from drowning, bend almost all the water out of her wings and finish drying Lavender with her super strong lungs after warning Lavender to hang on tight.

~"Sorry, Lavender, you're too tall to Dragonfly Waterski," Heidi told Lavender, who was now good and dry. "Why not try something that doesn't require riding any animals?"

~Lavender was a little discouraged, but not ready to relent yet.

~Lavender decided to try Mouse Polo, but the first mouse she tried, the hugest, wasn't strong enough to carry her. A rat joined in, but Lavender decided to try riding on the rat's back; at least the rat could hold Lavender's weight, but even her back was not strong enough for Lavender. Plus, rats are not normally as docile as mice in Pixie Hollow. Soon the rat's back and legs gave out and Lavender had to forgo Mouse Polo.

~"Are you okay, Beatrice?" Daylily asked the rat as she and Chickadee Fancyforest, a new Animal Healer, checked on Beatrice the Rat. Heidi came by and, upon seeing a mouse and a rat with injured backs, face-palmed and sighed because she knew how they wound up with backaches: Lavender's sheer size.

~Told her no animal riding events, Heidi thought as she flew back to the Dragonfly Waterskiing practise.

~But Lavender refused to relent yet.

~Lavender decided to try the Marble Cage Capture practise. Figuring she might be just small enough to fit in the round branchy cage, she folded her wings as close to her body as possible, got inside and tried to stand up… she just fit. Nilla went on top of the round branchy cage and the practise started, but Lavender's strides were so wide Nilla had to hang onto the cage and crawl to keep from falling off since flying was not allowed in this game if you were on top. Finally, Lavender and Nilla managed to reach the marble pit, Lavender's hands were just big enough to grab a marble with just one hand and she carefully held the marble and ran back to the position.

~"Lavender, slow down!" cried Nilla, hanging on for dear life since she couldn't keep up even while crawling.

~But Lavender ran faster and faster to the point Nilla had to clutch the side to avoid being crushed! Finally, the pair made it, but upon trying to get out of the cage, Lavender got stuck!

~"Oh, great, it's Lavender the Large again," said a male Gardener.

~"Tuck your wings in!" cried Nilla. "I'll get you out!"

~As Nilla flew inside the cage in an attempt to help Lavender out, she noticed the cage openings shrinking! Lavender had her shoes on, but why was the cage sprouting new branches?

~As it turned out, wherever Lavender's wings were touching too long, new branches grew and grew and soon the cage was almost completely fused shut! Fortunately, Magnolia was able to free both Gardeners from the round branchy cage, but she had to break it to smithereens first, and Magnolia hated having to break anything that took so long to fix or build.

~"You two okay?" asked Magnolia as Nilla and Lavender got out of the mess of small branches.

~"We are now," answered Nilla. "But I thought not even Gardeners could cause these cages to sprout out of control?"

~For most Gardeners it was true, but thanks to Lavender's height, she needed larger wings to fly, but somehow could still do her Garden magic with one cup of Pixie Dust a day. Her body, despite the size, actually proved more efficient… too efficient. Lavender was able to reassemble the round branchy cage from the broken pieces, but it was a little larger than regulation size, mixed coloured and a little too weak.

~"Great, now we'll have to make a new one for our talent," said a different Garden fairy.

~Fortunately Xenops was able to help grow a new round branchy cage, then Foxglove and Pearl aimed their combined powers to colour the entire cage the same pink the cage was meant to be. It was regulation size, strength and colour. Just as Lavender was about to test that one out…

~"You've already grown yourself into one pickle here," said Xenops. "We can't risk you getting trapped again, so I think best if you participated anywhere else."

~"Maybe try the Teacup Obstacle Course?" suggested Magnolia. "No animals there but us fairies."

~Good idea, Magnolia, thought Lavender as she rushed there.

~Lavender got inside a teacup that had some Pixie Dust on it and in hopped Xenops. Since Nilla was taller than Xenops but shorter than Lavender, it was a safe bet, right?

~"We're falling behind!" cried Xenops as she and Lavender tried to lift their teacup off the ground more than a few centimetres.

~"Duuuuuuust," drawled Lavender.

~Xenops added a little dust to the teacup and it lifted a little more. More dust, more lift until there was enough for the Gardeners to speed past everyone and reach the slime slides. Lavender went down first, then Xenops joined her. Finally, an event Lavender could participate in!
