Okay: those cupcakes look ridiculously sweet. Watching the whipped icing was mesmerizing. But what were the little gold bits that they put inside? Is it just sugar, basically?

I've never made piroshki on my own before, but I've helped my grandmother with crimping and filling and frying. It's a lot of work and very fun. What are some of your favorite recipes from your mom?

Wow! I scrolled through the So Yummy Youtube channel and my mouth was watering the whole time. I watched one of the videos about international desserts and saw something about a Russian cherry-filled pie called piroshki. My own Russian grandmother likes to cook and bake, but I've only ever seen her make savory piroshki, so this is new and exciting for me.

My grandma used to have cookie-baking extravaganzas around Christmas time. We'd fill plates with all kinds of sweets to give to neighbors and have for parties. I had no idea Cupcake Wars was a thing. How is it different from Cake Wars (besides the obvious, haha)? I don't watch them very often, but Tastemade has some fun short videos that I come across every now and then.

Ah, I love sugar cookies! Decorating them is especially fun. A while ago I made some scones with lemon curd and they turned out delicious. I love anything with lemon in it. Are you into any baking shows on TV?
