Field Observation 1: Dragonflies in Dewdrop Vale

Perched high atop the tallest tree overlooking Dewdrop Vale, Clover Diamonddrop began her work.
She knew dragonflies preferred to be near water sources, and this was their favorite hangout spot.
Clover lifted her binoculars, scanning the sky in search of dragonflies.
After a few short minutes, a large male dragonfly came into view.
She followed his path as he darted about the meadow, his iridescent body glinting in the sunlight.
Based on her knowledge, books, and observations, Clover jotted down a few dragonfly facts:
- Dragonflies have five eyes and about 30,000 lenses, allowing them almost 360-degree vision!
- They prefer freshwater, as they spend most of their lives underwater as nymphs!
- They can fly at speeds up to 35 mph and are able to hover, fly backward, and change direction instantly!
- Their wingspan can vary from 2-5 inches, almost as tall as a fairy!
- They are painted in all iridescent colors, making them extremely beautiful!
As Clover's excitement from dragonfly watching grew, she noticed something odd.
"Hmm, I wonder why he's flying to the Bubbly Bog..."
If there's one thing every animal fairy knew, it's that the Bubbly Bog was dangerous.
Many animals who ventured in often contracted a severe case of the boggy sniffles!
She knew that the next step would be to venture into the wilderness herself!
