Against My Own Grain

Deep within me, against my anger,
against my thoughts, against my sight,
I see that I am not alone.
Another hides her plight.

She works hard to be happy,
to show that she is normal.
How can one be normal in
this world where none are formal;

Against her grain, against her mood,
she hides herself. She daren't show
that she is not in control.
Why should anyone else know?

Against her, and against me,
I speak my feelings,
and allow others to see
that I am healing.
