I’ve done blogs for the first game and lost treasure, so now I’ll do one for Great Fairy Rescue!

Your Fairy

In this game, you get to create a fairy. Unfortunately, you can only create one fairy but there are a few more options in this game than in Lost Treasure even though they’re still limited compared to Pixie Hollow. Your talent can be light, garden, water, animal and tinker. You have a larger set of outfits to start with than in Lost Treasure which includes five of the same dress, headpiece and shoes each in different talent colors. The outfits come in five categories; dresses, tops bottoms, shoes and headpieces. The cool thing about this game is that you can wear some outfits in several different ways. You can change your hair style any time throughout the game.

You’ll earn more outfits by doing favors and successfully completing minigames. When you reach a certain point in the game, you can exchange materials for outfits at Solstice Shoppe. You can obtain materials from minigames, finding them around the area, planting flowers and you can receive them from other fairies. Throughout the game, fairies will tell you unique methods to collecting materials.

Story

First, you’ll introduce yourself to several fairies and play a few minigames. You’ll be put in charge of growing the summer garden for the end of summer tea party. You’ll go to Lizzy early in the game for advice and she’ll talk about six rare lily seeds. The goal of the game is to find the seeds. Once you find it, the lily will be in the middle of the summer garden. The story has six chapters each includes exploring a different section of the country side and ends with finding a different lily.

Minigames

Throughout the game, you’ll be asked to play different minigames. If the game doesn’t match your talent, the mentor fairy of that talent will come and say, “let me handle it” but you’ll still have to play the minigame, but you’ll just play as that fairy. If the game matches your talent, you’ll play as your fairy. If you meet the goal, you’ll get rewards and advance through the story. A lot of games give you an outfit. If you don’t meet the goal, you’ll have to play again. If you fail three times, you can use pixie dust to skip the minigame but you won’t get any rewards.

On the title screen, there’s a button where you can play minigames. Three minigames have to do with the movie, but there’s one multiplayer game. This game isn’t required for any of the minigame achievements. You can unlock more games using spells and you need to play them if you want all the minigame achievements. Once you complete the story, you can replay any of the story minigames in the minigame menu.

Action Stages

At seven parts of the game, you’ll do an action stage. The first one will be right before you enter Lizzy’s house but the others allow you to access a secret area where you’ll find the lily seeds. In the action stage, you have to make it to the end while avoiding obstacles. If you hit an obstacle three times, you’ll have to start over. You’ll be collecting items during your journey in the action stages. Each action stage provides a unique challenge.

Action Stage #1-You’ll be flying away from Mr. Twitches. At some points, Mr. Twitches will scratch at you causing spoons to fall. You’ll have to avoid Mr. Twitches and the falling spoons. You’ll be collecting buttons in this stage. There are some parts where you can open boxes to receive more buttons to collect.

Action Stage #2-In this stage, you won’t be flying. You’ll be on a boat. You’ll be collecting flower petals but you’ll have to avoid whirlpools and branches. You’re allowed to jump over obstacles and there are some parts where you’ll have to. You can steer your boat near a wave for a speed boost.

Action Stage #3-You’ll have to get past the busy bees which are almost impossible to avoid at first. To get past them, you’ll need to open and move flowers so it’ll be easier to avoid the bees. You’ll be collecting raspberries in this stage.

Action Stage #4-This action stage is a maze. You make your way by putting dewdrops on and off leaves to open and close them. When you do, pearls will fall and you’ll have to avoid them. Ladybugs will indicate the right paths. You can only hold one dewdrop at a time unless you’re a water talent, then you can hold two. You’ll be collecting dewdrops in this actions stage.

Action Stage #5-In this action stage, you’ll receive what I call “pieces of light”. You can use it to light up the mushrooms. When you do, you can collect these stone thingies and fewer bats will appear if there’s light. Throughout the stage, you can get more light. If you’re a light talent, you’ll have more light.

Action Stage #6-You’ll be following a mouse to the end. You’ll have to avoid rocks. You’ll occasionally pass ladybugs and you’ll have to tap them so they can move away. In three points, you’ll have to choose which path to take. One will be safe but one will lead to a rock.

Action Stage #7-You’ll be collecting dandelion fluff while avoiding strong winds and these little falling orange thingies. In some points, Vidia will stop and you can collect dandelion fluff then. When Vidia hides in a tree, it’s best that you hide or else a hawk will hit you.

When you complete the game, you can access the secret areas again but you’ll have to complete the action stage in order to do so. The only exception is the 1st stage which leads to Lizzy’s room. You can easily access Lizzy’s room without doing anything, but you are allowed to replay the action stage.

Gardening

There are three parts of the game where you are required to plant in the summer garden; the beginning of the game where you’ll only plant one seed, a point in chapter 2 where I had to plant eight or nine seeds, and a point in the final chapter where I had to get 2/3 of the garden filled.

You can get seeds from minigames or they can be found. When planting, you’ll first need to put the seeds in the holes. You’ll play as Tinkerbell while doing that but if you’re a tinker talent, you can choose to play as your fairy if you want. There are four jobs you can do. The flower will bloom if you wait a bit, but if you do all the tasks you’ll get an extra seed. If the job matches your fairy’s talent, you can choose to play as your fairy. There’s watering the plant, tending the plant and shining light. There’s also petting the flower where you can play as Tink, Fawn, Vidia or your fairy. Once all the steps are complete and you wait long enough, you get to make the flower bloom. You’ll play as Rosetta but you can play as your fairy if you’re a garden talent. After you grow your flower, I’ve heard there could sometimes be ladybugs and dust that would need to be removed, but I never experienced that.

I honestly find the flower planting to be boring, but luckily, at one point in the second chapter you’ll be able to make the flowers instantly bloom so it won’t take that long. The only downside with that is you won’t get any bonus seeds.

After you complete the game, you’ll gain the ability to change the colors of flowers. Each flower has three different colors and the only way to unlock it is to plant a flower of that color. Some colors are rarer than others. You’ll also earn more space to plant flowers after you complete the game.

Thanks for reading this little guide. I really like this game even though the gardening is boring and I loved exploring the Fairy Camp area. The outfits are also beautiful.
