Spirit Prep Chapter Three Part 1

Hot 1Viewed 502 times2018-1-19 21:23

Because the third chapter is kind of long, I decided to split it into two parts.

Chapter Three-The Mirror of Vision

Behind the wooden doors is a large, wide hallway that shimmers like the other magical places I’ve visited. It doesn’t appear to be that much different than a typical high school, but there’s something about this place that reminds me of a palace. It might be the smooth, clean, shimmering walls and floor or the gold framed paintings and stained glass windows of magical creatures.

“What do new students do first?” I ask Nora as I stand and admire the wide hallway.

“First, you need to be in one of our four houses” Nora explains.

“What are the houses?” I ask.

“To make things easier for the teachers or something like that, the students are divided into four houses which represent the four elements. There’s Terra for the element of earth, Aier for the element of air, Aqua for the element of water and Ignis for the element of fire. The houses basically are chosen based on the student’s personality and destiny”

“What house are you in?” I ask.

“I’m in the Aier,” Nora answers, “which means I’m social, flexible and good with other people. You can recognize Aiers by their purple uniform because the color of the uniform matches the color of the house.”

“So, being a human, why are you here?” Nora asks as we wait by the large stained glass window of four spirits next to the entrance.

“I think I’m supposed to be an Earth spirit or something.” I answer.

“It’s very likely you’ll be in Terra. Spirits come in four general types; Earth, Air, Water and Fire. That type almost always matches their house.”

“Does it always?” I ask.

“No,” Nora answers, “there are some cases where Fire spirits ended up in the Aier house or Earth spirits ended up in Aqua. Once, I’ve heard that a water spirit surprisingly ended up in Ignis and it didn’t seem like she had a fiery personality.”

I noticed tiny sparkling pixies guiding the new students in the first room to our right. It was a sort of large office room with pixies working desks made out of tree wood and pots of plants in different shades of green. The pixies led us to large wooden double doors inside the room.

“Good luck!” Nora says, “I gotta get to class!”

Then, the door slightly opens, and a pixie with a pink bun, dress and wings emerges from the doors and approaches the group.

“Welcome new pupils!” she enthusiastically exclaims in a high pitched female voice.  “Now, settle down, you are about to go to Willow’s office to discover your house”. Some of the girls quietly cheer like going into Willow’s office was such a big deal. Well, Sienna told me that Spirit Prep is one of the best schools, so Willow must be really famous or something.

“Now, when I call your name, please go into Willow’s office and she’ll tell you what to do next.”

I don’t really know what to do so I lean on one of the wooden desks watching as students come through the doors and disappear from the office. I watch as the pink pixie calls each names each time the double doors flash in a bright summer green color.

“Daisy Green,” the pixie says as soon as one of the flashes appears.

When I walked in the office, feeling a bit nervous, I notice a Willow standing in front of me. I recognize her from one of the stained glass windows. She possesses little and light features with forest green skin with bright green lips, and long, natural looking loose hair in a darker shade of green that somehow reminds me of vines. She wears a dark, leafy dress which might actually be made of leaves. Her office is a square shaped room with a wooden brown floor and palace like wall. The walls are covered in magical treasures like the ones you find in a museum or video game, but they’re actually enchanted, and there are some tiny green plant pots surrounding the room. The two largest objects in the room are the desk that’s more shimmery and darker than the ones in the larger office room, and the large rectangulare full length mirror. It looks like a regular mirror, only it’s shiny and has a bluish look.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Daisy,” Willow says in a weirdly pleasant sounding voice, “I don’t think you know me, but I’m Willow and I rule the spirits. I also run this school.”  She clears her throat, “Now, it’s time for you to find out your house.”

Willow points at the mirror and instructs me to stare at it. I do exactly what it says. I start staring at it for a few seconds until the negative space in the mirror turned a darker shade of blue and becomes more solid rather than glassy. A little later, the blue background begins to turn a little greener. It turns greener and greener until my reflection disappears and replaces with a picture of a leaf. “Terra is your house.” I hear a mysterious voice from the mirror call. Then, the green picture slowly fades away, my reflection appears again, and the mirror morphs back into the more ordinary looking glass mirror.

I’m very satisfied that I’m in Terra. Nora told me that earth spirits should expect to be in Terra, and I really hate it when things don’t go as expected.

“What do I do now?” I ask.

“You’ll be getting your uniform at the uniform transformation chamber,” she replies. She points at a door tinier and darker than the entrance in the main office, “Just walk straight when you go out this door and keep walking straight.”  I nod and do exactly what she says

When I walk straight, I enter a plain looking room full of mannequins modeling a school uniform consisting of a tank top, scarf, headband and skirt. I’m relieved that these uniforms remind me of human world ones, only they’re more sparkly and have four different versions each consisting of a bright color. I notice students lining up near a set of sparkling violet curtains that remind me of shower curtains. Other pixies hover in front of each curtain. I line up by the curtain with a pixie that looks identical to the pink one, but she’s purple. I see one of the students walk in as a pixie closes the curtain. The curtain quickly flashes in white light, and I hear a brief boom. When the pixie opens the curtain, the girl walks out wearing a uniform.

When it’s my turn, I walk in the chambers feeling nervous about what this flash will do to me. I didn’t end up feeling anything, but I did notice a burst of white light a bit brighter than outside the curtain surrounding my body. I actually become a bit excited when my outfits suddenly changed.

When I step out of the curtains and look through one of the large full length mirrors, I see myself modeling the green Terra uniform.

“Here’s your schedule.” the pixie tells me. She waves her arms towards me and a folded piece of parchment appears on my hands in a series of clear sparkles. I unfolded the parchment to look at the classes I have;

Well, this magic school is definitely different! The only classes I seem to be familiar with are art and gym, the others I’ve never taken in the human world.

The pixie tells me that when the bell rings, I should report to Day A’s 2nd block class which is Spell Casting. I’m not sure whether or not I’m ready to actually do magic, but if I’m accepted into this school, then I guess I might have a secret talent or whatever. I guess I should be grateful that I’m not at my old school.
